Sense of pride. Make it contagious.

This week’s reflection is about contagious pride.

I have been thinking a lot about the energy we bring into the spaces we occupy. That sense of pride that shows up as optimism, enthusiasm, and belief. When it is genuine, it spreads. Not because it is forced, but because people feel it.

For me, that pride often shows up as energy. It is how I walk into a room. How I engage in conversations. How I show up to the work. When I bring that energy with intention, it tends to ripple outward to the people I am working with. That is what I mean by contagious pride.

There are moments when culture, music, or creativity makes that feeling obvious. The song I am sharing this week captures that energy perfectly. It is joyful. It is confident. It is alive. In many ways, it is the musical version of how I try to show up each day. Not because everything is perfect, but because optimism creates momentum.

That sense of pride is also deeply tied to integrity. The integrity of how I lead. The integrity of the craft. The integrity of the people and systems I help shape. There is sometimes tension between being bold and protecting what matters. At times, that can feel lonely. Still, it is a tension worth holding.

As I look past this first month of writing and think about what is ahead, this reflection is also a check in. A pause to ask myself if I am tracking toward my goals for the year. Am I leading at the altitude I aspire to? Am I growing in the ways that matter most to me?

I know many others are doing the same right now. If you are checking in on your own progress and feeling off track, or simply thinking about your next step into design leadership, this is an open invitation to reach out. I am always happy to share perspective or help point you toward support.

Keep learning. Keep growing.

Have a great weekend.
